13 days ’til Christmas! How exciting is that?! Have you started decorating yet? We got our tree three weeks ago guys, I was THAT excited.
If there is one thing I love about Christmas, it’s all the food. Seriously, ALL the food! Chocolate, party foods, cookies, mince pies, the lot! And it so happens that I have found THE BEST cookie recipe ever, and I just had to share it on the blog for everyone to enjoy! (notice how many words I’ve written in capital letters already, I am super happy about it!)
So, I’m sharing with you today my favourite recipe of vegan chocolate orange cookies for Christmas. It’s gooey, citrusy, chewy on the inside but crispy on the outside… Just all around the best cookie recipe! They’re also super easy to make, and simply delicious!

Advice on how to make these vegan chocolate orange cookies
In order for these vegan chocolate orange cookies to turn out the best way possible, it’s really important that your oven is set at the temperature I’m recommending, which is 160°C. Any higher, and the cookies will be super crispy on the outside and raw on the inside; any lower and they might not be as crispy or evenly baked.
Secondly, don’t hesitate to use your hands to cream the whole batter together. Sometimes, an electric whisk or a spatula isn’t enough and you will need some elbow grease to get the butter to be malleable and warm up a little bit so everything can come together nicely! Your hands will smell of orange zest too, which isn’t the worst thing in the world!
Finally, the chilling part of the process is also super important! Allowing the batter to chill during at least 30 minutes in the fridge will mean that it’s a little bit easier to form cookie dough balls, and it will also help chill the butter long enough to prevent the cookies from spreading too much in the oven and help them retain their cookie shape.
Enjoy!

Vegan Chocolate and Orange Christmas Cookies
It's gooey, citrusy, chewy on the inside but crispy on the outside... The perfect Christmas cookie recipe!
Ingredients
- 75g vegan butter
- 125g light brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 200g flour
- 1/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 40g plain soya yogurt
- zest of 1 orange
- 80g vegan chocolate (chunks or chips)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 160°C. Line a baking tray with some parchment paper.
- Cream the butter and sugar together using a wooden spoon or electric whisk until light and fluffy.
- Add in the vanilla extract to the butter and sugar batter.
- Fold in the bicarbonate of soda and the flour to the butter and sugar mixture gently, a little bit at a time.
- Add in the plain soya yogurt to the batter and mix well.
- Add the zest of 1 orange to your batter - I used a very thin cheese grater to zest mine! as well as 80g of chocolate chunks or chips. At this point, you should use you hands to mix everything in thoroughly.
- Mould to dough into a ball, wrap it in a clean tea towel and place it in the fridge for 30 minute. This step is optional, but it will help the structure of the cookie and prevent it from spreading too much in the oven when baking.
- Take the dough out of the fridge and use your hands to form 12 dough balls. Spread them on the baking sheet, and bake for 8 to 10 minutes on the middle shelf of your oven until golden.
- Take the cookies out of the oven and let them cool down. They will be very soft at first and will finish cooking outside of the oven and harden as they cool down.
- Enjoy with a cup of hot chocolate and a cosy Christmas film!
Notes
The cookies will keep for 3 to 4 days in sealed container.

If you check out my blog, i pay around with vegan recipes. These cookies 🍪 looks awesome. I am fascinated with your ingredients. The vegan butter is an ingredient i am yet to try. Never tried soy yogurt. I try not to bake alot, because have a HUGE sweettooth and have very little self control. I could eat a dozen in one sitting. 😋 These cookies are a must try.
