Happy April! Hasn’t March felt like the longest month ever? I never thought it would end! But it’s finally spring time, we’ve had a lovely warm couple of days, we’re slowly going back to life as we knew it, and I have two weeks of Easter holidays at the beginning of the month… I have a good feeling about this month.
Here’s a few goals I’ve set myself for April!

catch up on work
I started up work again in February after a little time off, and I found it very difficult to get back into the swing of things. It’s taking me longer to do some tasks than before, and as a result work piled up the past month and my productivity has been non-existent outside of the workplace… In addition, my memory stick has become cluttered with a bunch of documents that should be in folders and so my job for April is to catch up on all the work I’ve got left to do and tidy up my digital life! It’s a big task I need to tackle and definitely one of my biggest goals this month.
a declutter
I’m moving! Well, not until early summer, but it’s already April and summer is going to roll around so quickly now. With moving flats comes the dreaded task of packing, and I have unfortunately come to the realisation that I’m not a minimalist, as much I wish to be. I have drawers and cupboards overflowing, a crazy amount of makeup and I love homeware… I’m lucky to have an Easter holiday this year and a few days off work here and there during the last two weeks of the month, so it’s the perfect opportunity for me to start decluttering my current living space in order to be able to have a smooth move comes July. I need to make a list of things to chuck away or donate first, and then tackle this gigantic task… Hopefully it’ll be a success!
a self care routine
I’ve realised the past few weeks that I have seriously neglected to take some time for myself since starting work again in February. I have been so busy that I have not done any of the things that I usually do to relax! I took the first few days of this week off and it’s been a dream: I have read, I have cooked, I have slept, I have spent time with my other half… I have had the best time, and it’s made me realise that I really need to get back into a good work/life (and self care) balance. I’m sure you have heard this before, but self care isn’t just about baths and face masks; it’s also doing things that bring you joy and help you relax on a day to day basis, and for me that definitely includes reading, baking, tidying and cleaning, as well as pampering myself! I’m going to try and be more conscious of this in April, and try to have a little bit more of a routine when it comes to my self care, like taking the night off if I’ve been really productive that day or dedicate my Sundays to tidying my flat and cooking for the week!
exploring Leicestershire
Now that the government guidelines have changed from ‘Stay Home’ to ‘Stay Local’, I’d love to start exploring my county more! I’ve lived in Leicester for the last four years, but most of that time has been spent studying at university, so I’m familiar with the city of Leicester itself but less so with the rest of Leicestershire. I’ve been to Market Harborough a couple of times, but that’s about it! So, in April I’d love to go explore my county a bit more and discover new places, new independent businesses, and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine spring is going to bring us! This would also be a perfect opportunity for me to start writing ‘explore Leicestershire’ blogposts which is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Sophie and Nicole have definitely inspired me in that regard, I love their instagram pages and blogs where they promote a lot of businesses and help locals discover their own counties. I haven’t seen a lot of posts promoting Leicester and Leicestershire businesses, but there’s so much to see and do here!
I hope you’re enjoying the start of your four day weekend if you’re lucky enough to have one! Have you got any goals for this month?
Em ♥

Best of luck with your goals for this month! I love that you are looking to make some space in your home by decluttering and finding ways to look after yourself through self-care practices. Have fun exploring your place of residence! Stay local sounds perfect to me. <3

These sound like great goals – it’s somehow reassuring to see I am not the only one struggling with any sort of task at the moment, everything is a hassle! Thank you for sharing Em x
I hope you achieve all of your April goals! I love that one of your goals is to explore more of the area you live in, maybe I’ll do that for the area I live in too! x
